The General Conference Executive Committee established a committee to discuss the role of women in the church, and in particular the issue of women’s ordination, for report to the 1985 Spring Meeting of the GC Executive Committee, with an eye to presenting a further report to the 1985 GC Session. The 66 members of the committee (51 men and 15 women) met on March 26-28, 1985, close to the GC headquarters at Takoma Park Seventh-day Adventist Church, near Washington, D.C. Four research papers were commissioned and pre-circulated to committee members, and these are included below, along with the official minutes of the committee as presented in a report to the 1985 Spring Meeting.
